Privacy Policy for PARIVESH App

1. Welcome to the PARIVESH App

The PARIVESH App is developed and maintained by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) for the Government of India to facilitate green clearances (Environmental, Forest, Coastal Regulation Zone and Wildlife Clearances) and related e-governance services.

This Privacy Policy follows a privacy-by-design approach and explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

By using the PARIVESH App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

a) Personal Information

We do not automatically collect personal information. However, when you voluntarily log in or interact with the App, we may collect:

• Email address
• Login credentials (as applicable)
• Information submitted while using application services
• Information shared while contacting support

Registration through the mobile app is not permitted; users may register through the PARIVESH web portal. Login is optional, but certain features may not be available without logging in.

b) Non-Personal Information

We may collect non-personal information such as:

• Device information (device model, operating system version)
• Application usage data
• Crash logs and analytics data

This information is used only to improve application performance, reliability, and user experience.

c) Location Data

With your permission, the App may use GPS or similar technologies to determine your location. Location data is processed only during active use and is not stored beyond operational necessity.

• Identify the city or region of access
• Display location-based information or maps
• Support administrative analysis and decision-making

Location access is used only while the App is active and can be disabled through device settings. Some features may not function properly without location access.

d) Camera Access

The App may request camera access to take geo-tagged photographs when required. This permission is used only at the time of capture for the intended service/workflow and not for background recording or unrelated activities.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the PARIVESH App
• To improve application functionality and performance
• To respond to user queries and support requests
• To assist authorities in administrative, monitoring, and policy-related activities

4. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent users’ personal information. Information may be disclosed only in the following circumstances:

• Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, court order, or government request
• Government Authorities: For official, administrative, or policy-related purposes
• Service Providers: With trusted service providers working on behalf of NIC/Government of India for App operation and maintenance

5. Data Retention

• User-provided data is retained in accordance with applicable government rules, legal, and audit requirements.
• Automatically collected information may be retained depending upon the nature of the data and may subsequently be stored in aggregated or anonymized form.
• Some data may be necessary for the App to function properly and cannot be deleted while services are in use.

6. Security Measures

We implement security measures including encryption (HTTPS/SSL), access controls, and secure storage to protect user data.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or mobile networks is completely secure.

7. User Rights and Choices

• You can enable or disable location and camera access through device settings
• You can stop further information collection by uninstalling the App
• You may contact support regarding your data
• Misuse of the App by non-targeted users should be prevented by the device owner

8. Third Party Links

The PARIVESH App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

10. Your Consent

By using the PARIVESH App, you consent to the collection, processing, and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
